Earlier this year, I appealed to my inner hunter-gatherer by trying my hand at foraging for wild garlic.
I toyed with the idea of organizing a foraging excursion in Niagara with someone who really knew what they were doing and could teach me what to look for so I wouldn’t have to worry about mistaking something deadly for something edible.
Given the interest in my attempts to unearth the often overlooked and unknown food growing in the wilds of Niagara, I thought I would post some information about an introductory foraging workshop happening Saturday, Sept. 25 at Everdale Farm in Hillsburgh, north of Guelph. It runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., includes lunch, some time to forage, and a plant pressing so that we can refer to our finds during future forages (and avoid eating the inedible).
The cost is $75. If anyone signs up from Niagara and wants to carpool, drop me a line and maybe we can work something out.
